This is a newly released, November 2003, ebook by
Ewen Chia
that teaches you how to create mini-ebooks to distribute and presell
your affiliate programs. The book is 88 pages for those who are
curious, but I don't think page number is relevant as long as the
content is high quality.
I got word of this ebook from my regular activity
at the Warrior
Internet Marketing Forum early in November. I read the sales
letter and being fairly learned in the internet marketing area,
I decided not to buy the book because it seemed like something I
already knew a lot about and it wasn't worth $39.97 to me.
Some weeks later, Ewen offered a special offer for
Warrior members in the Special Offers section of the forum. He was
giving the book to Warriors for only $11.97. I couldn't resist,
not only because it was a great price, but because of the bonuses
that came with it. My intention was to buy the book and review it,
so that I can judge if it's worth the regular $39.97 price or not.
Here are my observations after reading the ebook.
The book starts off by teaching the reader how to
find good affiliate programs. I think this is a nice section to
include in the ebook because it is often one of the most overlooked
aspects of promoting affiliate programs. Ewen does a good job of
informing the reader of how to choose a good affiliate program.
I noticed that Ewen strikes a nice balance between
staying focused on the topic at hand and also providing information
to help more "beginner" marketers. He practices what he
teaches in his ebook.
Ewen also offers a ton of useful resources in every
step of his teaching process. He offers many free resources such
as free autoresponders and low lost hosting services, so no, he's
not trying to intentionally profit from affiliate programs. He shows
a site where you can get domain names for $5.95.
I don't want to sugar-coat this review too much because
it might seem too biased so I'll list my negatives. The Mini-Ebook
Topic Generation chapter was lacking. Ewen could have added
more meat to this section and better techniques. The techniques
he uses are geared more towards beginners. BTW, I'm not dissing
beginners, I was a beginner once, hehe.
With that said, I personally don't think that chapter
is really necessary. Here's why - if you come up with the affiliate
program to promote and the keywords to promote them, which Ewen
explains how to do, then your mini-ebook topic should already be
obvious. For example, if your topic is "Hosting Dinner Parties",
then you should be able to come up with a mini-ebook on one or two
aspects of hosting dinner parties and then lead customers to your
affiliate program.
I'd say the best part about Ewen's ebook are the resources.
There must be over 100 resources for tools and sites that will help
you get more traffic and get your ebook downloaded. These are free
resources too. You'll never run out of places to submit your articles,
or ebooks if you use Ewen's resources.
Ewen's book is geared towards the low-intermediate
to upper intermediate marketer. Although a complete beginner can
use the information in the ebook and not get lost, it's geared more
towards someone who already is familiar jargon of internet marketing.
Being in the upper intermediate level myself, I found
some highly interesting techniques and resources mentioned by Ewen.
After I read the ebook, I went back to the salesletter
to see if he delivered everything he promised. I can honestly say
that Ewen overdelivered. It's not hype at all.
Is Mini-Ebook Secrets worth the $39.97 investment
for people?
I think it is because Mini-Ebooks are a good concept that works.
Many people have used them effectively to promote affiliate programs.
Mini-Ebooks are similar to mini-sites, which is a very effective
concept, as people who have Phil Wiley's
"Mini-Site Profits" can agree with.
I definitely think if you don't at least make back
your investment on this ebook then you're not applying what you've
read. Some of the ideas and resources in the ebook are worth the
price of the book itself. My favorite part of the ebook is the amount
of quality resources which would take months to compile yourself.
As far as customer service goes, I have not delt with
Ewen in the past. All I can say is after paying Ewen the $11.97
through Paypal, he sent me a link to the download manually within
a few hours. He did this manually because the Paypal link was a
special offer.
